Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team on a PRN basis. You will provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and patient education while collaborating with healthcare professionals to support patient wellness.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, highly organized, and committed to outstanding patient care with flexible scheduling to meet operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field or Bachelor’s in Athletic Training with 3+ years of experience.
  • Current NATA BOC certification and Alabama licensure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation following professional standards.
  • Coordinate patient care with healthcare professionals and educate on treatment plans.
  • Independently make decisions impacting patient health and quality of life.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure billing compliance where applicable.
  • Participate in performance improvement, education programs, and outreach events.
  • Support event coverage and injury prevention education outside the clinic as needed.
  • Comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication, and teamwork.
  • Assist with patient care under supervision of a PT or MD when applicable.
  • Adapt to flexible scheduling, including varying shifts and event support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries according to professional standards of practice
  • Coordinate patient care with healthcare professionals and educate patients and families on treatment plans and injury prevention
  • Independently make decisions that positively impact patient health and quality of life
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with billing procedures when applicable
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, educational programs, and community outreach events
  • Assist with special events and injury prevention education programs outside of the clinic setting as needed
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, strong communication skills, and a positive attitude in all interactions
  • Support patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist or Medical Doctor when applicable
  • Adapt to flexible scheduling needs, including varying shifts and occasional event support
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Preferred certifications include one or more of the following:
    • NASM-CES
    • NASM-PES
    • ISFTA-CPT
    • NSCA-CSCS
    • FMS
    • SFMA
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Licensure & Certifications
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC)
  • Current Athletic Trainer license in the State of Alabama
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and insurable driving record preferred
