Job summary

Danbury Public Schools CT is seeking an Athletic Trainer to coordinate a safe environment for school athletic activities and provide injury assessment and emergency care at practices and games. You will collaborate with medical practitioners to coordinate treatment and develop comprehensive Emergency Action Plans.

Responsibilities include maintaining medical records, budgeting for supplies, and communicating with coaches, parents, nurses and student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC) is required.
• AED, CPR, First Aid and Concussion certifications are required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and medical professionals.
• Experience creating Emergency Action Plans.
• Experience creating and implementing Concussion policies and procedures.
• Previous experience as an Athletic Trainer in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a safe environment for athletic activities and emergency care during practices and games.
• Collaborate with medical practitioners on treatment protocols and procedures.
• Develop comprehensive venue-specific Emergency Action Plans.
• Maintain medical records for injuries and rehabilitation procedures.
• Establish and manage the budget for athletic training supplies and equipment.
• Communicate with coaches, parents, nurses and student-athletes regarding injuries.
• Serve as liaison between physicians, the school district, athletes and parents.
• Follow return-to-play concussion protocol for affected students.
• Attend away contests and assist the Director of Athletics as requested.
• Update concussion policies and procedures as needed.
• Assist Director of Athletics with equipment needs in the athletic training room.
• Maintain inventory of medical kits and water coolers.
• Provide athletic training techniques during games/practices to reduce injury risk.
