Job summary

Mercy athletic training role focused on prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for active individuals and sports injuries. The goal is to maximize safe return to activity and maintain Mercy Service Standards.

The incumbent will show professional development within the field, and perform related duties as required. The position is based in the Orthopedic Clinic near Mount Auburn with day shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of athletic training program from accredited college or university.
• Master's degree in athletic training or related field preferred.
• State licensure or eligibility as Athletic Trainer required.
• BOC Certification, CPR or equivalent required.
• NATA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for active individuals and sports injuries.
• Demonstrate professional development and responsibility within Mercy's mission and standards.
• Perform related duties and occasional weekend hours or travel as needed.

Education Required

Graduate of athletic training program from accredited college or university.

Education Preferred

Master's Degree in athletic training or related field is preferred.

Experience Required

Licensure Required

State of practice licensure or eligible for Athletic Trainer is required.

Certification/Registration Required

Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc. Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent.

Preferred Certification

National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

This individual must be trained and capable of performing patient care and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed.

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements

Clinical and/or Outreach Athletic Training settings. The individual must be very adaptable and willing to work occasional odd hours. There will be occasional weekend work and travel required throughout the year.

Therapeutic Modalities, Thermal and Electric Modalities, Computer, Dictaphone, Cellular Phone, Therapeutic Equipment.
