Overview

Provide services in regards to prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care and rehabilitation for all active individuals and sports‑related injuries. The overall goal is to maximize safe return to activity. The individual will demonstrate professional development and responsibility within the field of athletic training and will perform related duties as assigned, carrying out responsibilities consistently with Mercy’s mission, values and Service Standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an athletic training program from an accredited college or university.
• Licensure: State of practice licensure or eligibility for the Athletic Trainer designation is required.
• Experience: None.
• Certification/Registration: Certification through the Board of Certification, Inc. Professional Rescuer CPR or its equivalent.
• Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to perform patient care and assess and interpret data reflective of a patient’s status to identify requirements relative to age‑specific needs.
• Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Clinical and/or outreach athletic‑training settings; must be adaptable and willing to work occasional odd hours, weekend shifts, and travel within the year.
• Equipment Used: Therapeutic Modalities, Thermal and Electrical Modalities, Computer, Dictaphone, Cellular Phone, and therapeutic equipment.
• Preferred Education: Master’s degree in athletic training or a related field.
• Preferred Experience: Some experience preferred, but not required.
• Preferred Certification: National Athletic Trainers Association certification as an athletic trainer.
