Job summary

Oklahoma State University – OSU Center for Health Sciences seeks an Athletic Trainer to prevent, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries, and to educate student athletes. The role includes coordinating medical coverage for workouts and games, and supervising trainees.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields, and national certification with Oklahoma licensure. Preferred candidates hold a Master’s and IST certifications; willingness to work varied hours including evenings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Healthcare Administration, Health/Physical Education, Sports Medicine/Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy (degree must be conferred on or before start date)
• Post Graduate Athletic Training Experience
• Certifications: NBTC/ATC or APTA licensure as applicable

Responsibilities

• Prevent athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Evaluate athletic injuries.
• Treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
• Counsel and educate student athletes.
• Athletic Training administrative duties to be determined.
• Coordinate medical coverage for workouts, practices, home and away games; schedule athletic trainers.
• Supervise, educate and recruit undergraduate and masters-level athletic trainers.

Work Schedule

Work schedule will vary according to practice and event schedules. These can change depending on availability of facilities and weather changes. Athletic events will take place on weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

• Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Board of
  Certification and/or American Physical Therapy Association
• Prior to hire: Licensedby the state of Oklahoma as a Certified Athletic Trainer

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

• Strong analytical,writtenand verbal communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse department,Universityand community constituencies
• Ability to direct and perform confidential detailed work with accuracy under deadline pressure
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA guidelines and universal precautions.
• Extensive amount of time standing per day and a willingness to work extended hours including evenings,weekendsand holidays.
• Must be able to deal with heat and changing weather precautions and ability to direct personnel in case of severe weather
• Ability to manage and direct multiple personnel and tasks at one time
• Experience and knowledge of organizing strength programs, especially for injured student athletes
• Working knowledge of basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database function
• National and international travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's

  Exercise Science, Healthcare Administration,Health/Physical Education, Sports Medicine/Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy

• AT/PT (Athletic trainer and Physical therapist) preferred

• At least 2 years of Athletic Training Experience. Experience working with Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist

• Additional: Preferred Certification by NASM as PES/or CES., PT
