As a Certified Athletic Trainer, you promote and maintain health and wellbeing for client-based occupational medicine programs focusing on delivering exceptional patient care and reducing work-related injuries. The Certified Athletic Trainer-Onsite (CAT-O) plays an important role in workers’ compensation case coordination, injury management, health promotion, injury prevention, emergency response, and return-to-work placement, often working directly with the client’s Health and Safety Leader to foster a healthier workforce.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide basic first aid treatment for injuries and illnesses as specified in Physician Standing Orders, testing range of motion, strength, reflexes, sensory integrity, and functional status.
  2. Identify, evaluate, and refer injured associates to appropriate clinicians for optimal care.
  3. Respond to onsite medical emergencies following established action plans and standing orders.
  4. Assist in managing Workers' Compensation cases through claim capture and follow-up.
  5. Collaborate with the client’s HR team and management on return to work (RTW) job placement.
  6. Track and communicate MSD-related statistics to stakeholders.
  7. Manage pre-employment functional testing and vision acuity testing.
  8. Coordinate injury prevention programs, ergonomic training, and evaluations.
  9. Perform ergonomic job analyses and support environmental modifications.
  10. Create job rotation plans and monitor compliance.
  11. Implement rehabilitation treatment plans incorporating therapeutic exercises and modalities.
  12. Use innovative solutions and employee empowerment to design interventions.
  13. Administer drug and alcohol testing.
  14. Promote personal health and wellbeing in the workplace.
  15. Analyze data to measure costs related to musculoskeletal disorders.
  16. Provide reports on rehab utilization, costs, and savings.
  17. Complete administrative documentation promptly, including patient files and reports.
  18. Create a trustful environment encouraging injury and illness reduction.
  19. Communicate with safety personnel on rehab and injury prevention activities.
  20. Attend meetings and serve on committees as needed.
  21. Author articles for newsletters and the intranet.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in athletic training from an accredited program.
  2. Current NATA BOC Athletic Trainer certification.
  3. Active license to practice in the state, if applicable.
  4. Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
  5. Clinical knowledge of athletic training services in an onsite setting.
  6. Knowledge of kinesiology or ergonomic assessments.
