Job Description Summary

The certified athletic trainer will support the efforts of the Rehab Services and Sports Medicine Departments at MUSC Health - Orangeburg, while concurrently supporting Orangeburg County School District and its student athletes. Additionally, the athletic trainer provides administrative support to the attending provider as deemed appropriate. All practice is performed under the supervision of a licensed MUSC attending provider. Opportunities are expected to be available to support fitness programming and other aspects of MUSC Health's five (5) fitness centers in the region.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide general patient care: triage, assist with exams, administer medications, observe and report patient conditions, respond to calls, instruct patients, and call in orders.
2. Coordinate patient care: maintain patient flow, schedule appointments, review records, educate patients, assist with treatment plans, and support surgical scheduling.
3. Maintain inventory and equipment: ensure supplies, calibrations, and cleanliness are up to standards.
4. Perform clerical duties: complete forms, attend meetings, assist in scheduling, and participate in committees.

Minimum Training And Education

• Successful completion of the BOC exam and current certification as an Athletic Trainer.
• Current licensure in South Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Participation in continuing education (75 CEUs every 3 years).

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license, computer literacy, ability to work rotating shifts and overtime, learn new tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
• Orthopaedic experience and clinical operations knowledge.

Physical Requirements

Various physical activities including lifting, standing, walking, and working in confined spaces, with specific weight and sensory requirements detailed in the original description.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/BA from an accredited college; Master’s preferred.
• BOC certification, South Carolina licensure, and ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
