Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a qualified Athletic Trainer to provide on-site athletic training services at high schools and community events. The role supports a Sports Medicine Team and includes acute care, evaluation, rehabilitation planning, and prevention strategies.

The ideal candidate holds CAATE-accredited athletic training education, BOC certification, and active or eligible state licensure, with completion of BLS/CPR/AED within 30 days. A sign-on bonus is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited program.
• Current athletic training certification by the BOC.
• Currently licensed or eligible for State licensure within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to complete AHA BLS CPR/AED within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services to high schools and community events to support departmental goals.
• Assist with event coverage as part of the Sports Medicine Team.
• Provide on-field acute medical care during practices or events.
• Deliver clinical athletic training services in local clinics as needed.
• Perform on-site evaluations, triage, and immediate care for illnesses and injuries.
• Conduct injury evaluation and determine functional status and medical decision making.
• Determine and implement treatment, rehab, and protective measures.
• Set goals and evaluate progress; document outcomes.
• Coordinate with physicians; update on patient status and return-to-play decisions.
• Maintain records, equipment, and inventory; prepare practice/game setups.
• Assist with program planning, compliance, and policy implementation.
• Develop referrals to physicians and therapy services; track patient entry into the system.
• Ensure concussion education and acute cervical spine management.
