Job summary

The role requires a Bachelor's in athletic training, RI license, and BOC certification, with at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training and appropriate licensure/certification.
  • BOC certification and RI licensure required (to be obtained prior to hire).
  • Minimum one year of athletic training experience with student-athletes.
  • Emergency Cardiac Care certification as required; AED/CPR certification current.
  • Continued CEUs to maintain BOC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care, emergency response, and injuries management for Brown student-athletes.
  • Lead rehabilitation and return-to-play under supervision of Sports Medicine leadership.
  • Educate staff and athletes on injury prevention and health education.
  • Serve as primary athletic trainer for assigned sports and maintain medical records.

Job Description:Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Athletic Trainer position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).This role provides medical care and health education to ensure the safety of, reduce the risk of injury to, and guide the rehabilitation of Brown student-athletes under the guidance of the Associate Director of Athletics, Sports Medicine. The position will serve as primary athletic trainer for sports as assigned.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree, requiredRI Athletic Training License required (to be obtained prior to hire date).Board of Certification “BOC” for athletic training NATABOC Certification, required.Maintain BOCNATABOC Certification Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every reporting period, as required.A minimum of one year of relevant athletic training experience is required.Appropriate Emergency Cardiac Care certification as required by the BOC.A manual therapy certification preferredAll division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties.Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.Background Check – Criminal, Education, MVRJob CompetenciesIndicate the essential job competencies.
