Job Description:

The athletic trainer is responsible for evaluating and treating patients to restore function after injury. Duties include documenting treatments for proper billing and working in clinics, at sporting events, and schools. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in exercise science, physical education, or athletic training, certification by the NATA, licensure in Nebraska, BLS certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Exercise room setting with shared office; exposure to chemicals, fumes, extreme temperatures, outdoor work, confined spaces, blood, and body fluids. Must stand, walk, or run constantly; occasionally sit; lift up to 100 pounds; push/pull 50 pounds; climb stairs; reach, stoop, bend, kneel; with normal vision, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluate patients of all ages and diagnoses.
• Create treatment plans to prevent disability and promote recovery.
• Perform sports evaluations and determine need for advanced care.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely, including evaluations, treatment notes, reports, and updates.
• Attend continuing education to stay current with techniques.
• Mentor students and complete related paperwork.
• Adhere to billing, productivity, and care guidelines.
• Market services and develop relationships with athletic staff and athletes.
• Develop and lead camps, generate reports, and promote these activities.
