Job Summary: Evaluates, plans, instructs, and monitors athletic training programs to help athletes prevent injury, restore function, and reach maximum independence. Responsibilities include assessing athletes' sports-related injuries and conditions, recommending care plans, utilizing assistive devices, explaining safety rules, implementing rehabilitation programs, and documenting information from various sources.

Goals

To apply evaluation and treatment principles for athletic injuries, preconditioning, and reconditioning using appropriate preventative and supportive methods.

Duties

1. Prevent athletic injuries through orthopedic screening, personalized exercise programs, safety assessments, equipment fitting, and assisting in conditioning programs.
2. Recognize and evaluate athletic injuries.
3. Provide medical coverage during contests and practices; coordinate emergency procedures and services as needed.
4. Manage, treat, and refer athletic injuries; provide rehabilitation and functional testing to ensure athlete readiness.
5. Maintain data and complete reports, including injury reports, insurance forms, and inventories.
6. Organize preseason physicals for prospective athletes.
7. Inform parents, coaches, and athletic directors of athlete progress.
8. Provide educational programs for athletes, staff, and parents.
9. Train coaching staff in first aid and CPR.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
