Job summary

The University of North Dakota's Department of Sports Medicine seeks an athletic trainer educator to teach in the Master’s in Athletic Training program and provide clinical care to student-athletes. The position reports to the Department Chair and supports accreditation through CAATE.

The role combines teaching, supervision of clinical experiences, and direct patient care under ND licensure standards, serving UND Athletics’ 15 NCAA Division I teams and 330 student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Certified Athletic Trainer (CAT) is required or eligible.
• North Dakota licensure eligibility required.
• Submit all required application materials.
• Criminal history background check required.

Responsibilities

• Effectively develop and teach course(s).
• Advise and mentor athletic training and healthcare students.
• Communicate efficiently with students, staff and faculty.
• Schedule, coordinate and present information for assigned class(es).
• Provide healthcare for UND athletes.
• Provide athletic training services per CAT standards and ND licensure law.
• Cover athletic teams/events for the Department of Sports Medicine.
• Instruct and supervise students during clinic experience.
• Assist the Department Chair with duties as assigned.

Job description

The Department of Sports Medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences is recruiting for a highly motivated person interested in sharing their knowledge as an athletic trainer to inspire and teach students within the Master's in Athletic Training degree program and provide clinical service to patients. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) through 2027-2028.

The athletic trainer works under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Department Chair to educate athletic training and other health care students as well as provides healthcare for athletes competing in UND’s Department of Athletics program which has 15 NCAA Division I teams and 330 student-athletes.
