Altru Athletic Trainer – Grand Forks, ND

Location

Pay

$24.02 – $36.03 per hour

Summary

The Athletic Trainer provides coverage for college, high‑school, and outreach school settings. The role may involve coordinating and providing patient care within the physician’s practice, including first assistant in surgery, and administering the athletic training program at assigned schools, venues, and events.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assists with patient education involving the whole patient care and treatment plan according to validated skill level.
  • Performs and functions as a first assistant by demonstrating appropriate skill level of procedures under the supervision of the Orthopedic Physician.
  • Assists student athletes with physician referral and works with providers to return the athlete to play safely.
  • Provides concussion management services utilizing IMPACT testing.
  • Performs on‐site injury assessment and treatment, including first aid and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Performs injury prevention services through identification of predisposing conditions and utilization of protective taping and bracing.
  • Applies and removes all types of casts, appropriate dressings, splints, traction and other orthopedic appliances and equipment.
  • Coordinates the administration of the athletic training program at assigned schools, including site visits, event coverage and sports‑related education and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department or organization.
Certification
  • Athletic Trainer certification from the North Dakota Board of Athletic Training prior to the start date.
  • Certification from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice within 6 months of the start date.
  • Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; current state license, prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of the start date.
