Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or Kinesiology preferred.
  • Certification as Athletic Trainer or licensure as Physical Therapist required.
  • Minimum of three years post‑graduation experience providing injury‑risk assessments and sports‑performance services.
  • Must maintain applicable professional certification/licensure throughout employment.
  • Must be willing to travel within CONUS.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with HPT and medical personnel to integrate injury prevention into unit programming.
  • Coach and mentor H2F Integration Teams and medical personnel.
  • Provide hands‑on training related to injury‑risk assessment, injury prevention, and safety.
  • Develop resources for use by Soldiers and leaders.
  • Participate in HPT meetings and planning sessions.
  • Contribute input to curricula and reports.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer and train designated personnel.

Overview: The U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) is implementing the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System to improve Soldier readiness, resilience, and deployability. SRI is seeking an Athletic Trainer to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary H2F Performance Team supporting Army Reserve Soldiers and leaders. The Athletic Trainer will provide injury-prevention assessments, reconditioning education, recovery instruction, and human-performance support designed to reduce musculoskeletal injury risk and improve Soldier readiness and return to duty. The position is educational and advisory and does not provide individualized medical rehabilitation or clinical medical care.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and adapt multi-level injury-prevention assessments.
  • Develop educational reconditioning guidelines for unit leadership.
  • Develop and maintain resources addressing injury assessments, recovery techniques, and reconditioning.
  • Develop and deliver injury-prevention curriculum during H2F onboarding.
  • Train Soldiers in evidence-based reconditioning and recovery skills.
  • Support efforts to reduce musculoskeletal injury risk and improve return-to-duty readiness for Soldiers returning from injury.
  • Educate leaders on appropriate H2F reconditioning principles and protocols.
  • Coordinate with other HPT members and unit medical personnel to integrate injury prevention and reconditioning into unit programming.
  • Coach and mentor H2F Integration Teams and medical personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands‑on training related to injury‑risk assessment, injury prevention, reconditioning, exercise instruction, and safety.
  • Develop and maintain injury‑prevention and reconditioning resources suitable for use by Soldiers and leaders.
  • Participate in HPT meetings, planning sessions, working groups, and synchronization activities.
  • Contribute domain‑specific input to curricula, implementation strategies, resource libraries, reports, mentorship packages, and After‑Action Reviews.
  • Conduct recurring knowledge transfer and train Government‑designated personnel on developed strategies and materials.
  • Travel routinely to supported Army Reserve subordinate units and training events.

The AT performance standards require injury-prevention program development, onboarding curriculum, educational reconditioning guidance, resource development, and quarterly HIT mentorship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or Kinesiology is preferred.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer or licensure as a Physical Therapist is required.
  • Sports-performance certifications or additional injury‑prevention certifications in movement assessment are preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant post‑graduation experience within the last four years providing injury‑risk assessments, educational reconditioning, and sports‑performance enhancement services to athletes, military personnel, or other high‑performing populations.
  • Must have and maintain applicable professional certification and/or licensure throughout employment.
  • Where licensure is required, must maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions.
  • Must meet applicable DHA credentialing and primary‑source verification requirements.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting Army Reserve training events, including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regularly within CONUS.
