Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and ongoing study of new theories/procedures.
• Serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and training to achieve individual and team success while promoting character development and self-discipline.
• Follow all athletic policies and ensure staff compliance; implement regulations.
• Understand proper administrative command structure and route requests appropriately.
• Lead staff development through conferences, clinics and staff meetings; supervise and evaluate assistants.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation, events, and facility coordination; ensure compliance with state and school requirements.
• Maintain discipline, address grievances, and promote morale and cooperation.
• Direct student managers, assistants and statisticians; arrange for proper paperwork and eligibility documentation.
• Oversee equipment inventory, budgeting, and maintenance; safeguard facilities and property.
• Organize preseason meetings and promote the sport within/outside the school; maintain public relations.
