ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE COACH
Teach with Purpose. Develop Athletes. Make an Impact.
Great coaches don't just lead workouts. They make athletes better.

Are you passionate about training, love working with kids and adults, and get excited about helping people reach their potential? Do you understand the why behind the workout and enjoy teaching athletes how to move, train, and perform better?

D1 Training is looking for a knowledgeable, energetic, and development-focused coach who wants to make a real difference in the lives of athletes.

At D1, we train everyone from young athletes learning the fundamentals to adults looking to regain, transform, and increase their performance. Our coaches do more than count reps. They teach proper technique, explain the purpose behind movements, build confidence, and help every athlete make measurable progress.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in the details, connects naturally with all ages, and is committed to becoming a better coach every day.

If you love the science of training, the art of coaching, and the opportunity to help athletes reach their potential, we want to meet you.

WHAT MAKES AN EXCEPTIONAL D1 COACH?
  • A Teacher at Heart: You don't just demonstrate exercises. You explain the why, break down technique, provide meaningful feedback, and help athletes understand how to improve.
  • Technically Knowledgeable: You understand strength and conditioning principles, movement mechanics, speed, agility, power, and proper exercise progressions. You know what good movement looks like and how to coach it.
  • Great with Kids: You know how to connect with young athletes, earn their trust, keep them engaged, establish expectations, and make training both challenging and fun.
  • Driven by Athlete Development: You want to see progress. You pay attention to details, recognize weaknesses, celebrate improvements, and take pride in helping athletes become stronger, faster, and more confident.
  • A Strong Communicator: You can turn complex concepts into simple, effective coaching cues that athletes of different ages and abilities understand.
  • Adaptable and Observant: You recognize that every athlete is different, no matter the age. You adjust your coaching, modify exercises when necessary, and meet athletes where they are while helping them progress.
  • A Lifelong Learner: You seek feedback, pursue education, stay curious, and continually look for ways to improve your coaching.
  • A Leader with Character: You bring energy, professionalism, accountability, and a positive attitude to every session. You challenge athletes while prioritizing their safety and long-term development.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead coach-led group training sessions for youth athletes, adults, and sports teams using the D1 training model.
  • Deliver personal training and small-group sessions as needed.
  • Teach proper exercise technique, movement mechanics, and foundational strength and conditioning principles.
  • Explain the purpose behind exercises and connect training to improved athletic performance.
  • Coach and develop speed, agility, strength, power, coordination, and overall athleticism.
  • Observe movement, identify technical errors, and provide clear, effective corrections.
  • Adapt exercises, progressions, and coaching cues to individual needs and ability levels.
  • Monitor athlete development, provide constructive feedback, and help athletes work toward measurable goals.
  • Create a safe, structured, challenging, and encouraging training environment.
  • Build strong relationships with athletes and families through communication, accountability, and exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with the coaching team and continually develop your own knowledge and skills.
  • Deliver organized, professional training sessions that start and finish on time.
Qualifications
  • Passion for coaching, teaching, health, fitness, and athletic performance.
  • Enjoys working with children and adolescents and can effectively coach a range of ages and abilities.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in strength and conditioning, personal training, sports coaching, or a related field.
  • At least one current NCCA-accredited certification; CSCS preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of exercise technique, movement mechanics, and strength and conditioning fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and continually improve.

Former competitive athletic experience is a plus, but being a great athlete isn't the same as being a great coach. We value the ability to teach, connect, communicate, and consistently help athletes improve.

Compensation

$20–30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Health, dental and vision benefits available.

WHY D1 TRAINING?

At D1, coaching is about more than reps, sets, and performance numbers. It's about helping athletes develop the skills, confidence, discipline, and work ethic to succeed both on and off the field.

You'll be part of a team that values expertise, continuous improvement, high standards, and meaningful relationships.

Our promise: You pick the goal, we help you get there.

As a D1 Coach, you'll help make that promise a reality—one athlete, one session, and one breakthrough at a time.
