Job summary

Forsyth Tech Athletics is seeking a part-time CDL driver for our 29-passenger mini-bus. You will transport student-athletes and coaching staff to and from away games, primarily volleyball and basketball, ensuring safety and on-time arrivals.

The role requires a CDL Class B with P endorsement, a valid DOT medical card, and flexibility for evenings and weekends. Training included; open campus location on Main Campus.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid CDL Class B license with “P” endorsement with a clean driving record.
• Possess a valid DOT Medical Card.
• Ability to interact effectively with college student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Familiarity with traffic laws and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
• Be punctual and dependable.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre/post trip inspections before and after trips.
• Keep the vehicle clean.
• Report any repairs needed promptly.
• Maintain accurate trip logs.
• Communicate with athletics staff about transportation leave times, school locations, and possible overnight trips.
• Provide a positive and safe environment for students.
• Follow all traffic laws and safety rules.
• Perform other assigned duties.

• Ability to sit for extended periods: Comfortably sit for long durations while operating the vehicle and during transportation routes.
• Manual Dexterity: Skillful use of hands and feet for steering, gear shifting, and operating vehicle controls.
• Good Vision: Clear vision to safely navigate roads, read traffic signs, and monitor the surround environment.
• Adequate Hearing: Ability to hear sirens, horns, and other auditory cues critical for safe driving.
• Physical Mobility: Ability to get in and out of the vehicle easily, including climbing steps and adjusting seating.
• Strength and Endurance: Sufficient physical strength to handle loading/unloading items if necessary and to remain alert during shifts.
• Visual and Physical Alertness: Maintain focus and alertness to respond promptly to road conditions and passenger needs.
