PART-TIME ATHLETICS AND FLEX BUS DRIVER

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Part-Time Athletics and Flex Bus Driver to transport student-athletes and coaches to athletic competitions and school-related events while also providing morning or afternoon route coverage when a regularly assigned driver is unavailable.

Work Schedule:

Afternoons, Evenings, Select Weekends, Occasional Overnight Trips, and Route Coverage as Needed

Hourly Pay:

$16 per hour (Minimum two hours for every drop-off assignment & pay for the full time that you are required to remain with a team)

Position Summary

As an Athletics and Flex Bus Driver, you will safely transport Heathwood Hall student-athletes, coaches, students, and approved passengers to competitions, school activities, and assigned route stops. Responsibilities include providing substitute coverage for morning or afternoon routes, learning assigned routes and central stops, completing required pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safely operating assigned school vehicles, communicating with the Transportation Department, maintaining a clean and orderly bus, and professionally representing Heathwood Hall. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CDL driver seeking flexible, part-time supplemental income through athletics trips and substitute route coverage. You already earned your CDL and endorsements, so put them to work on a schedule that can work for you. You will have opportunities to transport athletic teams to competitions, support Highlander Athletics, provide substitute coverage when a regular driver is unavailable, and earn additional income while serving the Heathwood Hall community.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely transport athletic teams, coaches, students, and approved passengers
• Provide substitute coverage for regular morning and afternoon routes when needed
• Learn and follow assigned routes, central stops, and transportation procedures
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Communicate delays, trip updates, and vehicle concerns
• Maintain a clean and orderly bus
• Ensure the safety of children by securing equipment such as car seats and enforcing bus rules
• Monitor fuel levels and refuel the bus as needed to maintain operational readiness
• Represent Heathwood Hall professionally while transporting students and athletic teams

Specific Job Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• Ability to work afternoons, evenings, select weekends, occasional overnight trips, and route coverage as needed
• Ability to communicate effectively with immediate supervisor, department staff, students, and parents
• Reliability, professionalism, sound judgment, and commitment to student safety

Education, Qualifications, & Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• CDL Class B or higher
• Passenger (P) endorsement
• School Bus (S) endorsement
• Satisfactory driving record
• Ability to meet DOT and school driver requirements
• Successful completion of background and driving-record checks
• Minimum 1-year experience school bus driving experience preferred

Working Conditions

• Expansive school campus with 122+ acres, must be able to travel between buildings independently.
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and bending may be required throughout the day at various intervals
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
