Position Summary

The High School Athletic Manager provides leadership, coordination, and operational oversight for the school's interscholastic athletic program. The Athletic Manager promotes a safe, equitable, student-centered athletic experience while supporting student-athletes, coaches, families, administrators, and the school community. The Athletic Manager is responsible for coordinating athletic schedules, facilities, events, transportation, equipment, eligibility processes, game-day operations, communication, and applicable compliance requirements. The position works collaboratively with school and District leadership to ensure that athletics supports the educational mission, values, and expectations of the school District.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience in high school athletics, athletic administration, coaching, event management, education, recreation, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple athletic events, schedules, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescents, families, coaches, administrators, staff, officials, and community members.
  • Knowledge of interscholastic athletics, student eligibility, sportsmanship, and school-based athletic operations.

Required Clearances
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check;
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance; and
  • Federal Criminal History Record Information/FBI clearance.
Pennsylvania Certification Note

Based on current PDE staffing guidance, a locally titled Director of Athletics is identified as an example of a position that does not require Pennsylvania educator certification, provided the assignment does not include duties or functions reserved for a certificated professional educator.

Pay/Salary: WESPA Collective Agreement
