Athletic Head Coach (Certified CCPS Employee) Wrestling

Position Summary: Provides coaching, supervision, and training for K-12 student athletes, focusing on wrestling, and ensuring safety and development of athletes. Reports to the School Site Athletic Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruct and coach K-12 students on wrestling fundamentals, rules, and skill development.
• Develop and enforce team policies, regulations, and coach routines.
• Coordinate athlete registration, equipment issuance, try‑outs, and practice schedule.
• Supervise athletes and staff, maintaining safety, safety precautions and injury preventative actions.
• Guide students on appropriate decisions regarding further sport participation.
• Collaborate with school staff and external partners to promote healthy lifestyles and monitor program impact.
• Perform other duties as assigned needed to support program success.

Key Job Requirements

• Certified employee in a teaching or administrative position, OR
• Certified paraprofessional who has completed GHSA Principles for Coaching, NCSS PREPARE/First Aid, GHSA Head Coaching Class, and meets all head‑coach policies and procedures.
• Preferred experience coaching or playing wrestling and with equipment inventory and scheduling.
• Ability to manage projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision, time and priority management, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and emphasis on safety precautions, training procedures and injury prevention.
• Excellent interpersonal and decision‑making skills for moderate‑importance issues.
• Ability to supervise athletes, equipment and staff, ensuring effective operations and results.
• Frequent travel required for off‑site competition and training.
• Physical effort 70%+ of time outdoors in school setting, moderate lifting.
