Assistant Volleyball Coach (Certified CCPS Employee)

Oversees or assists the Head Coach in delivering sports/activity coaching to K-12 secondary school students. Provides supervision, training, and coaching to student athletes, develops individuals based on abilities, and encourages sustained activity levels. Delivers core movement and sport‑specific skills training. Reports to Head Coach; Head Coach reports to School Site Athletic Director.

Key Responsibilities

Instruct and coach K-12 students on fundamentals of sports. Work with coaching staff to set rules, policies, and regulations for the team. Assist Head Coach in proper registration of athletes, issuance of equipment, and coordination of try‑outs. Support scheduling and supervising practice schedule. Supervise athletes and team assignments. Guide athletes in appropriate sport participation decisions. Coordinate with staff to provide opportunities and monitor impact of delivery and healthy lifestyles. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

• Certified employee in a teaching or administrative position, OR a certified paraprofessional with completed lay coach courses (GHSA Principles for Coaching, NCSS PREPARE/First Aid), GHSA Head Coaching Class, and adherence to all policies.
• Experience in coaching or playing volleyball preferred. Experience with equipment inventory and scheduling preferred.
• Ability to manage projects and duties with minimal supervision; manage time and priorities effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills. Analytical mindset with emphasis on safety precautions and best training procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; requires frequent contact with internal and external personnel.
• Responsible for supervision of athletes, equipment, and staff; high accountability for effective operation.
• Requires frequent travel for off‑site competition/training.
• Work environment includes office, school grounds, and stadiums; requires physical effort 70% of the time outdoors; moderate lifting based on sport.
