Job summary

Sarasota County is hiring a Maintenance Technician to support athletic fields and facilities. This role involves light-to-heavy physical labor to keep fields pristine for residents and visitors. The job emphasizes safety, teamwork, and proactive maintenance across multiple county parks.

Starting pay is $19.51/hr with benefits within 60 days. 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with opportunities for development and advancement within the county workforce.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent completed.
• Experience as a semi-skilled laborer in parks/grounds maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance, repairs, and janitorial duties of fields, fencing, common areas, amenities, parking lots, and other areas.
• Provide polite, friendly, and accurate customer service.
• Conduct park patrols and inspections of athletic facilities to ensure public safety.
• Contribute to decision-making on field feasibility based on weather and conditions.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and events.
• Maintain daily upkeep of athletic fields and adjunct facilities, including painting/marking fields, setting bases, and pitching mounds.
• Report safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor for follow-up.
• Ensure proper maintenance, watering, mowing, edging, trimming, and painting of athletic grounds.
