Job summary

City of St. Joseph in Missouri seeks an Equipment Operator I (Athletic Facilities) to maintain athletic fields and facilities and to operate light to medium machinery in park maintenance.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, operating tractors and bobcats, snow removal, tree trimming, and supporting park operations; a high school diploma and the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating equipment used in park maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety requirements for equipment operation.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Valid Class A CDL is preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, mows, trims, and maintains fields and grounds.
• Operates tractors with hydraulic lifts, arm reach mowers or other attachments.
• Operates bobcat with attachments, backhoe, highloader and mowers.
• Removes snow and ice from park facilities; trims trees and hauls debris.
• Supervises prison work release inmates occasionally.
