City of St. Joseph is seeking an Equipment Operator II to maintain city parks and parkways using medium to heavy machinery. The role requires a High School diploma, a valid CDL Class A license, and at least one year of related experience.
The position operates tractors, mowers, backhoe and bobcat, with duties including snow removal, tree work, and assisting in facility renovations. Applicants must pass drug screening and background checks; 70-ft height work is required.

Operates medium to heavy machinery in the maintenance of the parks and parkways.
City employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and shall exhibit and extend such professional conduct as appropriate to the circumstances to those with whom they come into contact, both internally and externally, during the performance of their duties. Examples of professional conduct include, but are not limited to, being communicative, informative, fair, honest, and respectful.
Operates a variety of equipment used in routine maintenance, including mowers, trucks, tractors, chainsaws, forklift, bobcat, boom truck, and other equipment used in the maintenance of parks. There may be times when use of a personal vehicle may be required.
Majority of work is performed in an outdoor setting where weather conditions can vary from extreme heat and cold, with high levels of dust, dirt, fumes and noise. Physical activity includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and uses arms and hands frequently. Must have the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds and assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
