Job summary

The University of South Alabama's Athletic Field Maintenance department is seeking to hire an Athletic Field Technician II. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, three years of field maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain an Ornamental and Turf Pest Control license within six months of employment.

This is a full-time on-campus role based at the Main Campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of field maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ornamental and Turf Pest Control license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance on athletic fields and facilities (mowing, edging, raking, field repair) as directed by the Manager of Athletic Fields.
• Assists in preparation of playing surfaces and irrigation system installation/repair.
• Operates equipment such as riding mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, spreaders and sprayers.
• Maintains equipment and keeps facilities clean and organized.
• Measures and layouts fields and preps for painting and marking per sport specifications.
• Assists in analyzing turf problems (diseases, insects, weeds, soil).
• Ensures compliance with NCAA and Sun Belt Conference regulations.
• Applies chemicals and fertilizers to playing surfaces.
• Moves equipment and supplies up to 100 lbs; works events including nights/weekends.
