Job summary

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation seeks an Athletic Field Maintenance Technician to maintain athletic fields at parks across the South Region. The role includes mowing, aeration, fertilization, lining, and field layout to ensure optimal sites for events.

The position may require weekday daytime hours with occasional weekend work. Candidates should have field maintenance experience, landscaping skills, and a valid driver’s license, with CDL consideration depending on assignment.

Qualifications

• Experience in athletic field maintenance or groundskeeping.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safety practices and equipment operation.
• Requires a valid NC or SC driver’s license; Class A or B CDL may be required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, breakdown and clean during events.
• Perform routine cleaning of restrooms and rental facilities.
• Mow, edge, trim fields and maintain ballfields; remove debris after storms.
• Assist with brick laying, pipe laying, painting, carpentry and other tasks as needed.
• Layout measurements and line ballfields; assist in field maintenance.
• Operate mowers, edgers, power washers, ATVs and other equipment as needed.
