The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus is seeking an Assistant Director, Event Operations to coordinate planning and execution of high-quality athletic events across multiple programs. Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of working in an event management role.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and ability to learn and adhere to Conference game management policies.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to work with teams and external partners.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve issues in event operations quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines amid interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety codes, emergency procedures and risk management for athletic events.
  • Knowledge of arenas, venues, and building systems related to athletic competitions; staffing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of crowd management and security procedures for gatherings.
  • Ability to give clear directives and monitor standards and protocols.
  • Ability to train and evaluate staff and motivate performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with office software, data bases, and event AV components.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to university and department policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, execute and review games and events.
  • Serve as main point of contact for game operations and event management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external units to ensure high-quality events.
  • Lead part-time staff and ensure safe, compliant operations.
  • Maintain best practices and implement new ones as needed.
  • Safeguard spectator and participant safety and uphold policy compliance.
