Job summary

Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Athletic Equipment Manager for a full-time, 10-month position with a negotiable start date. This role oversees equipment room operations for multiple varsity programs and assists with game-day management.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and two years’ equipment experience, plus strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Two years’ experience in maintaining equipment is required.
• Strong interpersonal, communication & organizational skills.
• Must be willing to work weekends and early/late hours and holidays.
• Experience with Microsoft 365; Multi-lingual or bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assists in all phases of equipment room management for an athletic program with multiple varsity and junior varsity sports.
• Supervises student employees.
• Assists in purchasing equipment and supplies and maintains a digital inventory.
• Maintains and repairs athletic equipment.
• Assists in arranging for reconditioning of equipment.
• Ensures purchases and donations meet CSCU guidelines and safety standards.
• Monitors locker rooms for home and visiting teams.
• Greets visiting teams and escorts officials to facilities.
• Assists in fittings of protective equipment.
• Instructs student staff on equipment room operations.
• Assists in in-house laundry operations and bid specifications.
• Assists the Director in preparing the annual equipment budget.
• Assists with game management and schedules equipment room personnel.
