Job summary

Tri-Valley CUSD #3 is seeking an organized and energetic Athletic Director to manage, oversee, and advance the District’s interscholastic athletic programming. The ideal candidate will foster a positive environment that promotes the growth, sportsmanship, and personal development of every participating student-athlete.

Responsibilities include scheduling events, coordinating facilities, managing budget and staff, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong community relations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in an education field.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years teaching and coaching; admin experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and organizational skills with clear communication.

Job description

Tri-Valley CUSD #3 is seeking an organized and energetic Athletic Director to manage, oversee, and advance the District’s interscholastic athletic programming. The ideal candidate will foster a positive environment that promotes the growth, sportsmanship, and personal development of every participating student-athlete.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Program Oversight: Manage, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the District’s interscholastic athletic programs.
  • Scheduling & Calendaring: Create and maintain the master sports calendar, including all conference and non-conference games, events, and athletic departure times.
  • Facility Coordination: Schedule gym, building, and athletic field use with the District Office; coordinate facility maintenance (mowing, seeding, lining) alongside the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Event & Game Operations: Coordinate the hiring and payment of officials, event personnel, and security; assume overall responsibility for home game supervision, gate receipts, and accurate financial reporting.
  • Staff Evaluation: Assist the administration in selecting, assigning, and evaluating coaching personnel.
  • Compliance & Safety: Verify and maintain essential records including student insurance, physical examinations, parental consents, injury report claims, athletic contest results, and student eligibility.
  • Budget & Inventory: Formulate and manage the master athletic budget and supervise physical equipment inventories.
  • Community Relations: Plan the annual athletic recognition programs and maintain strong communication with parents, booster organizations, and staff.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in an education field.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years teaching and coaching experience; administrative experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, management, and organizational skills; ability to facilitate clear communication between diverse groups.
  • Tech Literacy: Proficiency in utilizing computers, scheduling software, and information management tools.
  • Professionalism: Ability to enforce school board regulations and athletic conference/IHSA policies in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Communication & Relationships: Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary/Benefits
  • Salary: Regionally competitive salary, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and certificates. Anticipated range $60,000-$90,000.
  • Pension: Eligibility for the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS).

  • Employment Requirements: Final candidates will be required to pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check and physical/TB screening in accordance with Illinois school law.
