Job summary

Dordt University Athletics invites applications for the Athletic Communication Student Assistant. Join our athletic communication office to support play-by-play and official scorekeeping for soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, baseball and softball.

The role requires evening and weekend availability during athletic seasons; training is provided and work-study eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate clearly in play-by-play and write-ups.
• Interest or knowledge in multiple sports with willingness to learn (training provided).
• Basic understanding of camera operation (training provided).
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.

Responsibilities

• Provide play-by-play for Dordt University livestreamed varsity and junior varsity events.
• Assist with official scorekeeping using Presto Stat program.

Job Description

Title: Athletic Communication Student Assistant

Reports To: Director of Athletic Communication

Join Dordt University's athletic communication office and assist at home events.

We are seeking students interested in play by play and official scorekeeping for soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, baseball and softball.

Play by play position responsibilities:

• Provide play by play for Dordt University livestreamed junior varsity and varsity competitions.
• Prepare accordingly for games to provide a professional level product.

Official Scorekeeping

• Input and assist with in-game statkeeping utilizing the Presto Stat program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate and speak clearly.
• Broad basic knowledge of all sports and/or interest in learning (paid training).
• Basic understanding of camera operation (training provided).
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.

Requirements:

• Must be eligible for work-study employment.
• Available to work evenings and weekends as athletic schedules require.
• Preference given to individuals with play by play and/or statkeeping experience.
