Job summary

University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is hiring an Athletic Academic Advisor to provide academic advising and support for student-athletes. The role focuses on ensuring progress toward graduation and compliance with NCAA requirements, reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics.

The position is full-time, twelve-month, contractual with benefits, offering a salary range of $45,000 to $55,000 and opportunities to support student success across campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in academic advising, student services, student affairs, or higher education teaching.
• Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse socio-economic, ethnic and cultural background.

Responsibilities

• Meets with student-athletes to advise them on academically related issues and study hall requirements.
• Advises a diverse population of student-athletes regarding academic progress toward degree and course planning.
• Develops appropriate academic plans by evaluating needs and progress.
• Maintains student-athlete academic files recording advising activities.
• Monitors NCAA rules for satisfactory progress toward degree completion and supports programs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
