Job summary

UMBC Athletics seeks an Athletic Academic Advisor to provide academic counseling for student-athletes and support the tutorial program. You will monitor academic progress, meet weekly with teams and coaches, and prepare weekly reports while coordinating with faculty to maintain NCAA eligibility.

You will supervise and train peer tutors, assist in recruitment and orientation of new student-athletes, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in related field.
• One year of professional experience with student-athletes in academic advising.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the academic progress of assigned teams.
• Assist in coordinating the tutorial program.
• Assist in monitoring continuing eligibility.
• Instruct a freshmen introduction to the university course (fall only).
• Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new student-athletes.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
