Job summary

YMCA of the Triangle in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Assistant Director of Competitive Swimming to translate department strategy into day-to-day execution across teams, coaches, and sites. The role leads the performance pathway from Age Group Select through National Team readiness and directly supervises senior coaches and staff to align standards and athlete development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of four years of progressively responsible competitive swimming coaching or program leadership experience.
• ASCA level4 swimming coach certifications preferred or equivalent.
• Must maintain CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety Training, Lifeguard training.
• Demonstrated passion for building community and relationships.
• Experience with roster management, athlete growth & retention, budget management.
• Ability to lead program delivery, coaching standards, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead department coaching staff and evaluate performance.
• Develop, document, and implement a consistent training philosophy.
• Align plans, standards, and terminology across programs.
• Oversee budget, enrollment, roster movement, and staffing needs.
• Coordinate swimmer transitions and development plans across sites.
• Engage families and communicate expectations for growth and placement.
