Job summary

Matter Health is seeking an Athena Developer & Integration Analyst to own the Athena API integrations, platform configuration, and extensions across athenaOne and athenaClinicals. This hands-on role focuses on API development, endpoint integration, and AI-enabled tooling to reduce clinician documentation burden.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in CS, Health Informatics, Information Systems or equivalent.
• 3–5 years hands-on API development against athenaOne/athenaClinicals REST and FHIR endpoints.
• Proven ability to design and maintain custom integrations using athenahealth APIs.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or Java for API development.
• Knowledge of HL7 v2 and FHIR R4 data standards.
• Familiarity with athenaClinicals configuration, user/provider setup, templates, and order sets.
• Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy and security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom integrations on the athenaOne platform via REST and FHIR APIs.
• Own the full API development lifecycle, including OAuth authentication and endpoint versioning.
• Prototype AI-enabled tooling to reduce documentation burden and surface clinical insights.
• Monitor API changes, test, and rollout platform and integration updates.
• Collaborate with athenahealth support and partners for API issues and new endpoints.
• Build bidirectional integrations between athenaClinicals and Salesforce with middleware and webhooks.
• Manage data mapping, transformation, and error handling for inbound/outbound data flows.
