Job summary

LMI is seeking an ATAK Plugin Developer to design and deliver custom plugins for the Android Tactical Assault Kit, operating in disconnected or contested environments. You will enable edge ML, real-time decision support, and seamless TAK Server integration for field dessa operations.

Responsibilities include optimizing performance on low-resource devices, securing API integrations, and ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards. Willingness to travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years software development experience, including mobile applications, plugin development, or backend systems.
• 2+ years of Android development experience using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Familiarity with edge computing concepts, including resource optimization on low-powered devices and intermittent or contested networks.
• Proficiency in API integration and building secure, high-performance architectures.
• Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver custom ATAK plugins for field-deployable tactical apps in disconnected or contested environments.
• Enable Edge MLOps workflows and on-device ML for real-time decision support.
• Work with geospatial data and overlays to improve mapping and visualization in ATAK.
• Support TAK Server integration and data exchange between mobile apps and central servers.
• Optimize software for low-resource devices in harsh environments.
• Implement robust and secure API integrations (REST, WebSocket, gRPC).
• Troubleshoot complex integration challenges with intermittent connectivity.
• Ensure DoD cybersecurity alignment and STIG support.
• Document designs, workflows, and processes for repeatable deployment.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and military stakeholders to refine requirements.
