LMI Consulting, LLC is seeking an ATAK Plugin Developer to design and deploy mission-critical ATAK plugins for operation at the tactical edge, including on-device ML and secure integrations with TAK Server. The role emphasizes edge computing, geospatial tooling, and DoD cybersecurity compliance.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of software development experience including mobile apps, plugin dev, or backend systems.
• 2+ years developing for Android (Kotlin/Java).
• Familiarity with edge computing and low-bandwidth/contested networks.
• Proficiency in API integration and secure architectures.
• Understanding of DoD cybersecurity guidelines and RMF/STIGs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver ATAK plugins for field-deployable tactical apps in challenging environments.
• Enable edge ML workflows and on-device ML for real-time decisions.
• Work with geospatial data and overlays to improve mapping in ATAK.
• Support TAK Server integration and data exchange between mobile apps and central servers.
• Optimize software for low-resource devices in contested environments.
• Implement secure API-based integrations (REST, WebSocket, gRPC).
• Troubleshoot complex integration and intermittent connectivity issues.
• Ensure compliance with military cybersecurity standards and STIGs.
• Document designs and deployment processes for reproducibility.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and military stakeholders.
