AIS, Inc. is seeking Marine Biologists (At-Sea Monitors) to work at sea collecting data and biological samples aboard commercial fishing vessels along the U.S. coast.

Monitors gather quantitative data on fishing activity, gear, bycatch, and marine wildlife while supporting NMFS NEFCS programs. After a 3-week paid in-person training in Falmouth, MA, monitors deploy from New England and Mid-Atlantic ports. Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience with data entry on computers.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Candidate must be physically able to perform observer duties.
• Own transportation required.
• Commitment to the program for at least one year.

Responsibilities

• Record detailed data on gear and fishing activity.
• Collect biological samples and fishery data at-sea.
• Work on deck aboard vessels ranging from 20’ to 100’.
• Attend three-week in-person training in Falmouth, MA.
