Job description

JOB TITLE – ASU Assistant Plant Manager
Manage business risks and production facility activities to support the safe, reliable, and cost-efficient operation.

Essential Functions
On-Call duties to cover for vacation, illness and other absences.

  1. Strong safety leadership driving a culture of proactive hazard identification, persistent risk assessment, interdependent behavior, and effective corrective action.
  2. Maintaining clean, organized, and efficient work areas.
  3. Daily production planning, logistics coordination, 24/7 ROC coordination, and plant operational efficiency.
  4. Daily resource scheduling, training, performance management, payroll and other human relations related activities to include contractors and ROC personnel.
  5. Daily MPDE production data, work orders, PO’s, purchasing, and other maintenance/projects within ASU’s maintenance system (MAPS).
  6. Calibration and maintenance of process and product analyzers and records.
  7. Assisting with startups and shutdowns of the ASU in a safe and efficient manner as dictated by operating conditions and business needs.
  8. Predictive indicator programs to identify equipment problems and/or improvement opportunities and take preventive actions to resolve.
  9. Local work instructions, engineering documentation, and OEM documentation to assure they are complete, accurate and current.
  10. Compliance with internal Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs, and applicable external regulatory codes and standards from organizations such as OSHA, FDA, ISO, EPA, DHS, DOL, etc.
  11. Business Continuity, Emergency Response and Loss Prevention programs.
  12. Performance and continuous improvement in safety, human resource, supply chain reliability, product quality control, corporate compliance, regulatory compliance, and production efficiency cost.
  13. Local Quality Management System and Management Reviews.
  14. Incident root cause investigations, Audits, and completion of their associated corrective and preventive actions in an effective and timely manner.
  15. Small improvement projects (SIP) and The Right Way (TRW) optimization projects.
  16. Other responsibilities and departmental projects as assigned.
  17. May include other responsibilities as assigned.

Education
Associate's degree - Associate degree in an industrial field plus 10 years of related experience.
Bachelor's Degree - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with preference for Reliability Maintenance, Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical disciplines.

Work Experience
7 – 9 years
Engineering related manufacturing experience in Industrial Air Separation industry
Production O&M related management and leadership positions

1 – 3 years
Reliability Engineering related work
Project Management related work
Bachelor’s degree in engineering with preference for Reliability Maintenance, Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Must have the ability to effectively manage a team.
  2. Proven Leadership skills to learn from and mentor others, identify and influence critical paths/resources, and organize/lead teams to make good decisions and reduce mistakes.
  3. Knowledge of risk management, loss prevention, and life cycle asset management programs.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate through excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  5. Analytical and critical thinking skills to identify potential problems, analyze data, prioritize, and implement solutions.
  6. Proficient in organizational skills to plan, organize, and coordinate work with ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  7. Basic understanding of electrical motors, electrical power distribution, AC/DC circuitry and electrical safety.
  8. Ability to utilize testing and measuring equipment, including DVM, megger, process calibrator and micrometer.
  9. Experience operating and maintaining process equipment including compressors, pumps, motors, turbines, heat exchangers and valves.
  10. Ability to perform corrective and preventive maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other plant equipment as required.
  11. Ability to read and understand technical process and equipment drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, Electrical Schematics and Equipment Diagrams.
  12. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.

Physical Demands
While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, bend and twist, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, equipment, tools or controls.
Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position with a flexible work schedule. Typical hours will vary to meet the supply chain needs for this 24/7 production operation; however, normal staffing hours are expected to be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional work hours may include nights, weekends and/or holidays with on-call responsibilities.
This role will be performed in office environments as well as in industrial field environments. While performing duties of this job it would occasionally be required to:

  1. Be exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme cold (e.g. operating plant).
  2. Be exposed to outside weather conditions (e.g. cold box valves, filling trailers).
  3. Be exposed to high, precarious places (e.g. cold box, repair work).
  4. Be exposed to high noise levels (e.g. Plant rounds, maintenance).

May also be required to work from a home location, which must be conducive to performing the role and duties, including virtual/video meetings.
Must sign NDA, have a clean driving record and pass background check and drug test.
