Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks an Operations Engineer (MTS/SMTS) to provide astrodynamic analyses, algorithm development, and systems engineering for space surveillance missions. You will work within the Space Control and Awareness Department, supporting mission studies and experiments with EO/IR/radar sensors and GNSS analysis.

This 100% on-site position is located in Colorado Springs, CO, with potential postings in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or in last 12 months in relevant technical field.
  • 0-1 year of industry work experience.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis and/or algorithm development.
  • Software development in at least one of the listed languages (Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, FORTRAN).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Transcripts required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide astrodynamic analytical support and algorithm development for space surveillance.
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis using in-house, custom, and gov't tools.
  • Advise stakeholders on orbit determination, target tracking, GNSS, and signal integrity.
  • Develop analytical reports and assist in study planning and design projects.
  • Analyze EO/IR/radar sensor concepts and space protection strategies.
  • Support space exercises and evaluate requirements; develop SDA, BMC2, and orbit determination skills.

Education

Master’s degree in Aerospace and Astronautics Engineering, physics, math or related discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
