Job summary

McDonald Jacobs is seeking an experienced Assurance Supervising Senior in Portland, OR to oversee engagements, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality client service. You’ll act as the main contact for client areas, review complex work, and guide teams through technical challenges within a quality-driven framework.

The role emphasizes inclusive leadership, resource planning, and collaboration with managers to meet engagement objectives and client expectations.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of accounting experience, ideally in public accounting.
• Advanced technical competence in audit and assurance standards, with a focus on nonprofit organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proven experience mentoring and coaching staff.
• Well-organized and efficient; strong prioritization skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and relevant assurance preparation software.
• Active CPA licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the progression of engagements and ensure timely, accurate, high-quality deliverables.
• Serve as the main point of contact for assigned client areas; maintain regular communication and address questions and concerns.
• Provide detailed review and actionable feedback on staff and senior work; ensure compliance with firm and professional standards.
• Research and resolve complex technical issues; escape risks appropriately.
• Mentor and coach staff and seniors, fostering technical growth and adherence to firm quality standards.
• Support managers by communicating emerging client needs and helping define project objectives.
• Model inclusive leadership and equitable practices across the team.
