Job summary

CLA seeks an Assurance Principal to join our Northeast office in Virginia. You will lead client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership at the highest level.

You will manage relationships with clients, take full responsibility for services in your book, review engagement letters and fees, oversee staff work papers, monitor timelines and budgets, and mentor teams to deliver audits and financial planning objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 8+ years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement prep and audits.
• CPA license is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with clients.
• Assume full responsibility for all services for clients in a book of business.
• Review and sign engagement letters, discuss assignments and approve fees.
• Review and approve work papers prepared by staff.
• Periodically review engagement progress and ensure all phases are carried out properly.
• Review time budgets and deadlines, liaise with client management, attend final meetings.
• Communicate engagement status, client issues, findings, and recommendations to managers and staff.
• Assist clients in obtaining funding to positively impact their community.
• Assist clients with audit and financial planning objectives using available tools.
• Mentor staff and oversee client engagement teams.
• Lead engagement progress by monitoring budgets and deadlines.
