Sylvania is seeking an Assistant Track Coach to join our coaching staff on a part-time basis. You will work with student-athletes to develop skills, improve performance, and promote a positive team environment.

The role requires evening and weekend availability and supports the coaching staff in implementing practice plans and competition readiness. Responsibilities include assisting with planning sessions, providing individual coaching, tracking progress, and helping with meets and recruitment.

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience in track and field or related sport.
  • Strong knowledge of track techniques, rules, and training methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse team environment.
  • Must pass background checks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach in planning and executing daily practice sessions.

  • Monitor and evaluate athletes' progress with constructive feedback.
  • Help organize and supervise track meets, including logistics.
  • Collaborate on training plans and seasonal team goals.
  • Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship and respect.
  • Communicate with athletes and families regarding schedules and expectations.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of student‑athletes.
  • Attend clinics and workshops to stay current on coaching practices.
  • Ensure safety and well‑being of all athletes during practices and meets.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Track Coach. Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing daily practice sessions, including warm-ups, drills, and conditioning workouts.
  • Provide individual and group coaching to athletes, focusing on technique, strategy, and performance improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate athletes' progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Help organize and supervise track meets, including logistics, warm-up routines, and athlete readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop training plans and seasonal goals for the team.
  • Foster a positive team culture by promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes and their families regarding schedules, expectations, and performance updates.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the track program.
  • Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current with coaching techniques and best practices.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
Requirements
  • Previous coaching experience in track and field or a related sport is preferred.
