Job summary

Good Samaritan University Hospital, part of Catholic Health, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for the NICU. Lead in the absence of the Nurse Manager, mentor staff, coordinate assignments by acuity, and support patient and family communication.

The role requires 5+ years in NICU nursing, a BSN, NY RN license, BLS/NRP, with PALS preferred, and offers growth, pension, and tuition assistance within a people-first culture.

Qualifications

  • RN with NICU experience in a Level III NICU preferred.
  • BSN degree required.
  • New York RN license and registration.
  • BLS and NRP required; PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager as well as liaison between physician, patient and family.
  • Aids in orientation and mentoring of new employees, and keeps existing staff ready to respond to patient emergencies.
  • Coordinate assignments meeting standard of care for patient acuity and organize teams based on Novice to Expert theory.
  • Participate in staff development and training while mentoring and serving as a resource person.
  • Maintain clinical competency to manage a clinical assignment.
  • Retain responsibility for the health and safety of patients and employees.
  • Participate with the Nurse Manager in completing performance evaluations, resolving personnel problems, counseling employees, patient experience, and regulatory agency preparedness.

The Assistant Nurse Manager Will
  • Provide leadership and direction for the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager as well as liaison between physician, patient and family.
  • Aids in orientation and mentoring of new employees, as well as keeping existing employees in constant readiness to respond to patient emergencies.
  • Responsible for the coordination of assignments that meet the appropriate standard of care for patient's acuity to staff and organize teams based on Novice to Expert theory;

What You'll Bring
  • Passion for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • 5+ years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience in the NICU, Level III preferred
  • Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Salary Range

USD $61.47 - USD $75.79 /Hr.
