  • Valid TRUST certification (must complete within first 120 days of hire – OMH only)
  • AMAP certification highly preferred (OPWDD only)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with flexibility and to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of applicable OPWDD, OMH, and other relevant regulations
  • Fundamental computer skills and ability to learn various applications
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Understanding of safety policies and ability to ensure safety at the residence

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and observes Direct Support Professionals (DSP)/Mental Health Support Specialists (MHSS)
  • Provides day-to-day oversight of service planning and clinical/health care services
  • Ensures documentation is completed accurately and timely
  • Maintains safety, rights, health, and personal outcomes for residents
  • Provides emergency coverage and covers DSP/MHSS responsibilities as needed
  • Coordinates and participates in required meetings, events, and committees
  • Maintains confidentiality of information pertaining to individuals and employees
  • Ensures residence and exterior property are clean, safe, and attractive
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and operating standards
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement of department services
  • Notifies and reports any abuse or safety concerns and adheres to safety training

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Residential Manager, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting with the supervision of Direct Support Professionals/Mental Health Support Specialists and will provide direct oversight of service planning and the provision of clinical and health care services. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the implementation of day-to-day activities and oversight of the assigned residence.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Works in partnership with the people we support to ensure that the rights, health, safety, and personal outcomes of the people living in the residence are being supported at all times
  • Advocates with people we support in a variety of situations
  • Works with the people we support to teach them new life skills
  • Assists the people we support to overcome barriers and challenges to establish and maintain a network of relationships and valued social roles
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and observes assigned Direct Support Professionals (DSP)/Mental Health Support Specialists (MHSS)
  • Ensures that all required documentation is completed appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Prevents, recognizes, and reports abuse toward the people we support
  • Provides ongoing protective oversight to individuals living in the residence
  • Maintains ongoing communication and always communicates in a respectful manner with all people including the people we support, supervisors, other valued team members, and members of the community
  • Provides emergency coverage and covers DSP/MHSS responsibilities as needed
  • Coordinates, supports, attends, and participates in all required events/meetings/reviews/committees as required
  • Maintains the confidentiality of any information relating to individuals and employees of the organization
  • Ensures that the residence, including the external property, is clean, safe, and attractive at all times
  • Completes all required trainings and stays in compliance
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed /processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilities of FREE Employees in Leadership/Management Positions:

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

  • Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keep others informed, and anticipate needs
  • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of applicable OPWDD, OMH, and other relevant regulations
  • Fundamental computer skills with the ability to learn and use various applications
  • Effective decision-making and time management skills
  • Other Requirements:
  • Valid Driver’s License and able to satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE required
  • Based on business needs, loss of driving privileges may result in change of work location, shift, weekly hours, or termination of employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed in person at the assigned program site. Some travel to community and FREE locations required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
  • Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
  • Employee might be required to lift/move light items.
  • Employee is required to reach with hands and arms
  • Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed
  • Employee is required to be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time
