Job summary

The Taholah School District No. 77 is seeking a dedicated assistant girls' basketball coach for the upcoming season.

Working with the head coach, you will help develop players' skills, promote teamwork, and foster a positive, competitive environment. This part-time seasonal role requires commitment to attend all practices and games, implement conditioning and game strategies, and support student-athletes and families while upholding district policies.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching basketball or a related sport.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students and staff.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
• Commitment to a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Availability to attend all practices, games, and meetings.
• Must pass a background check.
• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus but not required.

• Help organize and manage game-day operations, including warm-ups, player substitutions, and strategy implementation.
• Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback to enhance skills and confidence.
• Maintain open communication with players, parents, and school staff regarding team activities and player progress.
• Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and commitment.
• Assist in developing and implementing conditioning programs to ensure players are physically prepared for competition.
• Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required.
• Uphold and enforce school and district policies related to athletics and student conduct.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably in basketball or a related sport, is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
• A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Availability to attend all practices, games, and meetings during the basketball season.
• Must pass a background check and meet any other district requirements for coaching staff.
