Position Purpose

The primary function of an assistant dispatcher is to work in conjunction with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery of materials to customers in the day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforce adherence to requirements.
• Complete warehouse and delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
• Coordinate with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets acceptable standards and generates positive feedback.
• Ensure compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program.
• Cooperate with the Safety Director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation and analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.
• Will frequently move about inside the office and warehouse.
• Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
• Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Constantly working in office and warehouse environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

• some college preferred.

Minimum Years Of Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience.
