Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in Vinita, OK, seeks an Assistant Director of Forensic Psychology to lead statewide forensic mental health services. This in-person, executive role directs clinical operations and ensures quality psychiatric treatment across the state.

The incumbent will supervise a team of psychologists, collaborate with program directors, and shape forensic evaluations and restoration programs while upholding public safety and mission values.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited).
• Completion of a 1-year pre-doctoral internship with direct supervision from a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical or counseling psychology.
• Minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral specialized training in the evaluation and/or treatment of forensic clients.
• At least 2 years of licensure as a psychologist.
• Demonstrated experience in forensic evaluations and expert testimony.

• Supervise therapeutic team leads (2): NGRI and Restoration.
• Oversee psychoeducation groups and recreation functions.

• Oversee inpatient observation and evaluation processes.
• Supervise court-ordered in-person competency evaluations.
• Ensure timely completion of risk assessments per policy.

About the Facility

The Oklahoma Forensic Center is the largest inpatient behavioral health facility within ODMHSAS and the state’s only inpatient forensic hospital, serving all 77 counties.

• Location: Vinita, Oklahoma (approximately 60 miles northeast of Tulsa)

• Capacity: 268 beds

• Population Served: Individuals found incompetent for adjudication

WhatYou’llDo

This is more than a clinical role—it’sa statewide leadership position.

As Assistant Director, you will:

• Direct reports to facility medical director

• Supervise a minimum of 5 psychologist direct reports

• Supervise therapeutic team leads (2): NGRI and Restoration

• These leads oversee

• Psychoeducation groups

• Recreation functions

• Restoration programming/education

• Patient therapy and case management needs

• Work directly with NGRI and Restoration program directors

• Oversees inpatient observation and evaluation processes

• Oversees court ordered in person competency evaluations

• Oversees and manages completion and timeliness per facility policy for all risk

assessments

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (APA-accredited)

• Completion of a 1-year pre-doctoral internship, including direct supervision from a

licensed psychologist specializing in clinical or counseling psychology

• Minimum of4 years of post-doctorspecialized training in the evaluation and/or

treatment of forensic clients

SpecialRequirements:

• Preferred PsyD and/or Forensic Board Certification

• SuccessfulcompletionofOSBI background check

• Pre-employment drug screenrequired
