About the Job



The Assistant Director of Admissions in the Office of Admissions provides professional support and expertise in the recruitment of out-of-state students. The Assistant Director of Admissions will ensure the effective execution of national recruitment and outreach efforts. This position involves significant independent judgement in the recruitment of undergraduate students and requires significant travel. This position reports up to the National Recruitment Team, typically receives only general guidance, serves as an expert resource for others in the Office of Admissions, and is held accountable for achieving defined enrollment goals.

This position is based regionally, working out of a home office with occasional required travel to the Twin Cities campus. First preference will be for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is a 100%, 12-month, annually renewable appointment in the academic professional personnel series. Some evening and weekend work is required, particularly when engaged in recruitment activities and other travel. The annual salary range for this position is $78,000 - $85,000 depending on qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities

National Recruitment (45%)

  • Oversee the development and implementation of the national student recruitment plan in the Northern California and Pacific Northwest region, in coordination with the Associate Director and Director of National Recruitment.
  • Implement recruitment plans for out-of-state undergraduate students, including travel and representation of the University nationally.
  • Evaluate and analyze return on investment of recruitment activities.
  • Evaluate market and enrollment data to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Serve as territory manager for defined geographic regions.
  • Represent the Office of Admissions at on- and off-campus recruitment events.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to prospective students, their families, school officials, and other campus constituents.
  • Provide admission counseling and information to students, families, school officials, and other campus constituents.
  • Plan, host, and evaluate effectiveness of programs and events.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of recruitment efforts and program delivery through effective implementation and outcomes monitoring.
  • Enhance recruitment activities through the implementation of innovative programs and initiatives.
  • Represent the University at national conferences. Represent the university through active engagement in regional enrollment associations and national conferences.

Travel, Regional Presence, and Travel Planning/Training (25%)

  • Determine and evaluate travel needs relevant to national goals.
  • Travel extensively and prioritize the travel to maximize the University's in-person presence.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party partners to strategically enhance recruitment success.
  • Utilize recent developments and best practices to determine the best use of virtual programming and outreach to enhance overall efforts.

Application Review (15%)

  • Evaluate applicant credentials for the purposes of admission counseling and admission decision making.
  • Work with the Holistic Review unit to coordinate scholarship review to enroll an academically qualified and diverse class of first year and transfer students.

Project Management & Execution (15%)

  • Manage and participate in special projects.
  • Serve as a committee leader or member, as needed.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or master's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must maintain the ability to travel nationally for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend, as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently evaluate complex data and operational scenarios.
  • Ability and political acumen to balance competing demands, priorities, and needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to support successful and positive engagement with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines, make decisions according to policies and procedures, and exercise judgment in recommending procedural changes.

  • Demonstrated experience with Technolutions Slate.

Pay and Benefits


Pay Range: $78,000 - $85,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment, 12 month
