Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock invites applicants for a faculty position in Pediatric Surgery, with leadership roles at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital. The role supports an academic surgical program and patient care across the TTUHSC and UMC Children’s Hospital system.

The position emphasizes early autonomy in decision making, clinical teaching of residents and students, and ongoing participation in research to advance pediatric surgical care.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent.
• Completion of USMLE Step 3.
• ABMS Board Certified in Surgery.
• Board Eligible in Pediatric Surgery.
• ABMS Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery.
• 3+ years of experience in Pediatric Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric surgical and trauma call coverage at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital 10 shifts per month.
• Provide up to 6 days of clinic coverage inclusive of follow up care clinics, surgical consults and outreach clinics.
• Participate in quality improvement activities as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Educate and mentor surgical residents and medical students; and
• Engage in research and scholarly activities to advance the field of pediatric surgery.

Welcome to the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. We are an academic surgery program with several hallmarks. First and foremost, we train the best of the next generation of independent, confident surgeons ready for general surgery practice or to pursue advanced fellowship training upon graduation. We do this by providing early autonomy in diagnosis and clinical decision making, perioperative care, and in the operating room itself. We believe that in order to practice surgery well, you must actually be in the operating room from the start of your surgical training. We value the collegiality and support we provide each other and ensure that camaraderie remains a defining characteristic of this program.

• Provide pediatric surgical and trauma call coverage at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital 10 shifts per month. Shifts are inclusive of 24-hour Call;
• Provide up to 6 days of clinic coverage inclusive of follow up care clinics, surgical consults and outreach clinics;
• Participate in quality improvement activities as part of a multidisciplinary team;
• Educate and mentor surgical residents and medical students; and
• Engage in research and scholarly activities to advance the field of pediatric surgery.

Required Qualifications
