Job summary

Brown Animal Hospital in Peoria, IL, seeks an Associate Veterinarian to join our partnership with PCAPS. This role focuses on high-volume spay/neuter on the PCAPS mobile unit, with opportunities to treat shelter animals as schedule allows.

The position offers a predictable weekday schedule (Mon, Tue, Thu; 7:30 AM–4:00 PM), no emergency or on-call duties, and the chance to impact animal welfare through community outreach while practicing compassionate shelter medicine.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
• Illinois veterinary license (or ability to obtain).
• Experience in high-volume surgery and shelter medicine.
• Strong surgical skills or willingness to develop them.
• Efficient, organized, and team-oriented.
• Passion for community medicine and animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality, high-volume canine and feline spay/neuter surgeries.
• Evaluate and treat shelter animals requiring medical care after surgery.
• Maintain efficient surgical workflow while prioritizing patient safety.
• Collaborate with Brown Animal Hospital and PCAPS teams.
• Support shelter initiatives to improve animal welfare in Peoria County.
• Practice compassionate, high-quality veterinary medicine.
